ENVIRONMENTAL CERTIFICATIONS

PCCA maintains an ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management Program. Our program has been certified since July 21, 2007. More information regarding our EMS program .

On November 17, 2005, PCCA was a recipient of the 2005 Coastal Bend Bays Foundation environmental conservation and environmental stewardship award in the business and industry category for our EMS program. The program recognizes and honors outstanding Coastal Bend citizens, educators, businesses, governing bodies and other entities that have made significant contributions to protecting our natural resources, habitats and native species in the Coastal Bend.

On January 17, 2006, the PCCA EMS program was recognized by the Texas A&M Pollution Prevention Partnership for its environmental management program for reducing air emissions from diesel equipment.

 

On October 3, 2007, PCCA was recognized by EPA as a Blue Skyways partner. The Blue Skyways Collaborative is a regional collaborative aimed at improving air quality. PCCA participates with the Corpus Christi Regional Air Quality Committee and is a signatory to the O3 Flex Agreement. The O3 Flex Agreement is the first agreement of its kind and is a partnership between local entities, the TCEQ and EPA, in which voluntary measures are initiated at varying stages to maintain the air quality in the Coastal Bend region in attainment of national ambient air quality standards.

On June 17, 2009, the Pollution Prevention Partnership recognized PCCA for its leadership role in helping to maintain air quality in the coastal bend region. PCCA also has an internal anti-idling policy and utilizes propane powered lawn equipment for groundskeeping. One of the efforts that PCCA has also committed to is partnering with the Texas A&M Corpus Christi – Pollution Prevention Partnership to host Auto Check events on a quarterly basis in the port area.

On November 5, 2009, PCCA was a recipient of the 2009 Coastal Bend Bays Foundation environmental stewardship award in the business and industry category for our Port Pelican Island project. The port along with the Texas General Land office, and the US Dept of Interior Minerals management services cooperated on a project to construct a new breakwater for erosion protection of rookery habitat.
